Severe

I know, you have a lot of questions. So be it. One thing is crystal clear. Jesus is LORD! (5:19) Regardless of how severe our problems may be, they are no problem for Jesus. Whatever our problems, the prescription is the same. “Be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might!” (Ephesians 6:10) Learn it. Live it.

415
Tests

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

Faith is tested. Daily. Constantly. The slings and arrows of outrageous fortunes mock our belief in God’s care. Will our faith buckle in the face of seemingly contrary evidence?

414
Insight

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

In a passive world of “entertainment on demand,” actively listening and pursuing spiritual and practical insights from God is nearly a lost art. And you can see the evidence of it– everywhere.Yet God is still speaking, His insight is perfectly designed for the human heart in a fallen world. Come and get it!

413
Reality part 2

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

This parable is profoundly personal. It is a parable of the SOILS. The only variable in the four outcomes is the condition of the soil upon which the seed falls. We get to a point where we have to look deeply into our heart and acknowledge what is going on, and determine what kind of life we will live.
May God give us grace to do just that!

412
Reality part 1

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

The “reality” of spirituality comes into focus through this simple yet substantive “story.” So many questions were answered by Jesus then that ring true to this very day. It is important to take extra time to find yourself in the story, and begin the process to make the most of your opportunity to hear the gospel and to bring the most joy to the “sower.”

411
Accusation

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

Again, how impressed are we with Jesus? His handling of the many accusations against Him with such confidence and freedom - is well...impressive. Of course it goes beyond being impressed. After all, He is “THE strong man!” Let’s learn from Him - and connect closely with Him through doing the will of God!

408
Pressure

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

One of the reasons we call Him “the Master” is His ability to manage Himself, His environment, and fulfill His mission– all at the same time! While none of us will master ourselves to the extent that He did, we can certainly learn from Him - just like the twelve did. Spend time with Him, listen to Him and follow Him into obedient service. There is no pressure when He is in the lead.

407
Freedom

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

It's often hard to sort out the line that runs between legalism and compromise. Jesus perfectly kept God's Law, but broke many traditions of His day. In doing so, He points use to a greater freedom as we learn to live by relationship rather than rules.

406
Radical

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

Is the title too RADICAL? You be the judge. But you have to admit, Jesus is one of a kind, and very different in His “way” of living and relating. Do your very best to take in what He says and does in this passage in Mark.

405
Taking Sides

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

In this passage of scripture, we find that Jesus has already taken one large step towards the cross, as the religious authorities begin to set themselves against Jesus. But better news for us, we have found that Jesus has set himself for us. He will do what it takes to meet our ultimate need, a relationship with God.

404
go pt. 2

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

The titles for the introductory messages in chapter 1 have been: On Your Mark, Get Set, Go! In v.1, we are introduced to Jesus and in v.45, He has become so popular He can’t even enter a city because of the people. One of the main reasons for His popularity was His healing of the sick. Looking back on 1:28-45, we get a glimpse of what miraculous healing actually is and a perspective on it in our own life.

403
Go pt. 1

It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.

Ok, Let’s go. Let’s follow up on what it looks like to follow Jesus. It is a choice we all make everyday. The only other alternative is self-management, self- leadership of some sort. Self or Christ. Self or Christ. What a difference this choice makes.

Get set Pt 2

Do to Technical issue the introduction of the sermon is cut off in the video.

There are two images created by Mark in these 5 short verses. One is Jesus coming up out of the water of the Jordan River and being surrounded and supported by the Holy Spirit and His Father. The other is Jesus “alone” in the wilderness being tempted by Satan for forty days.
If nothing else, sitting still and pondering the significance of the scenes will draw us closer to Him and enable us to live more confidently ourselves.

Kick Off - Get Set

The arrival of Jesus in Israel and the response of the nation would be the determinative moment for them, and the rest of the world. They must be prepared, ready. God made sure they had ample opportunity to “get set” for what (who) was coming. He does the same for us.

How do you think John’s 50 years of  ministry in the early church helped him gain perspective and see God’s purpose in
these events? This is very much a  personal account but we must also keep in mind that it was the Holy Spirit who inspired John to write the words he did.
John must have gained comfort from the words of Jesus recorded in John 12:27, knowing that this was God’s plan and  purpose being fulfilled.

My Church

My Church

a unique service, focusing on Acts 20:17ff and some things that are happening in our church over the next few months.

My church is not my church.

The church belongs to Christ. He paid for her with His blood. v. 28

I don't expect my church to be an easy, casual, comfortable or convenient experience. The stakes are too high.

Tears, trials, night and day, bonds and afflictions are more like it. vs. 19, 23

My church requires leaders with godly convictions who are humble, courageous, and sacrificial.

Serving the Lord, not knowing what will happen to me, the Holy Spirit has made you overseers...be on guard... vs. 19, 22, 28, 31

My church takes the Bible and its message seriously.

I did not shrink from declaring to you...teaching you...solemnly testifying...preaching...I commend you to the word of His grace...

vs. 20,21,25,32

My church is an entitlement free zone.

I have coveted no man's silver or gold or clothes...It is more blessed to give than to receive. vs. 33-35

Vantage Point

He has fixed a day!

Jesus' return will change everything. What we now see with the eyes of faith, we shall see in person. What scripture prophesied for three millenia will become a reality. God has placed that day on His calendar and it is comming.... sooon.

God is for you

We are so blessed to live in an area of breathtaking vantage points, scenic views of peaks and valleys that can give one the perspective of the majestic topography of our region. Entering a new year with the vantage point of Psalm 139 will empower us to see the peaks and valleys that will come our way as opportunities for us to experience that God is for us. God never stops pursuing us and He truly knows us. These two realities can take us beyond the false belief that God is only for us when He cooperates with our agendas. God is pursuing us with a true knowledge of who we are so that He can rescue us from our short-sighted personal agendas and lead us in life giving ways.
